FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-- WE'RE LAUNCHING A BUSINESS

WE'VE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 3 YEARS

BROOKLYN, NY—

Big announcement here; we’re launching a business. Footstep Creative now has a public facing persona. Except we have been operating for 3 years now. We just finally now have a website, instagram, and all the good things a public facing business has.

Now, for those unfamiliar; Footstep Creative is me and some other fellas interpretation of what a production company should look like. I’m based in NYC, Max is based Boulder, Colorado; Stone is based in LA; and Kevin is somewhere in the Midwest / Mountain region depending on the week.

Now back to our interpretations of the world; In the creative space today, it seems like everyone calls themselves ‘a full service production agency’. and most are really, really good at it. If everyone can do everything- why do we need another agency? We took a step back, really thought about what we are good and bad at, and decided to specialize down into a ‘live event production company’. Now what does this mean? first we need a brief (this might end up being longer than brief) history of how Footstep Creative was born into this world.

Back in the lovely year of 2020, I was spending some time in Boulder as an intern for Tinman Elite, a professional running team. It was a blast, I learned a lot. It was pretty sick.

I got to work with Max, who was a previous intern and now was out in Boulder working for the team full time. We made a ton of stuff; some of it good, some bad, but got a ton better along the way. A little under a year into my internship I had overstayed my welcome and was somehow still in Boulder. The team decided it was time to bring on another intern, and for some reason my 20 year old self with absolutely 0 life experience was tasked with helping find a candidate. After a long and rigorous interview process Kevin came out on top. While all this was going on, I came across this dude from LA named Stone Malick on instagram. Also a photographer, cool name and cool pictures so I tossed him a follow. Turns out Stone and I had a good bit in common so we quickly became internet friends. At some point we took a trip to Arizona for a race (Marathon Man Reed Fischer vs 3k World Champion Ryan Hill). After watching back I guess Pat Casey was in there as well). Stone came too to hang out and shoot pictures. All that to say that’s when I met Stone, and we’ve been conjuring up mediocre ideas and well thought out ventures ever since.

Fast forward two years, I’m back in NY freelancing and we get reached out to by a client who was familiar with our work from TME and is looking for a content team for some events that their company sponsors. They even threw the ‘a’ word around (agency), one in which we were not at all set up for. But we ended up winning the pitch, and we couldn’t say here’s Joe, Stone, Max and Kevin ideas, so we made an LLC. The name was a result of this, putting it all together real quick and we said oh we need a name. We were going to be taking photos of people running, so I said ‘Footstep?’ and got two thumbs up reactions in the group chat- from there on we were born.

Back to where I was before I got distracted; so how are we different than every other media company? Like I said before, there’s a bunch of people who are good at this stuff and can make some nice pictures and videos. So we decided to focus on the parts we are really good at. Being nimble, quick, and innovative. These skill sets are extremely valuable at events where you have to think quick. Our first projects were in the sports sponsorship space, so we’ve also continued to want to follow that path.

Now time to flex our muscles a bit- what can we offer? Full photo and video teams, anywhere in the world. We have built a workflow for photos where with a little bit of cell service, I can take a picture, have the RAW sent to an editor, and in the client’s dropbox within 60 seconds, no matter where the editor or I am. It’s been pretty fun to work out the kinks for this process and get it dialed in, but we have something we’re super happy with. This is super helpful for events like a marathon, where I could be miles from our workstation and need to give assets to the client for posting in real time. In terms of video assets, we’ve gotten quite good at same day turn around. Our team of editors can take a day’s worth of marathon footage and spit out an edit within a few hours for same day posting. This quick turn around is really something we pride ourselves on.

So far the team has traveled all over the US, to Kenya, Europe, and hopefully not slowing down any time soon. We’ve taken on projects for clients like TCS, adidas, Under Armour, PUMA, and Reebok. We’ve worked with Olympic Gold Medalists, top chefs, Designers, and teachers from all over the nation with some of the most interesting stories around.

For the past 6 months we’ve been working with Jordan to get these public facing company profiles off the ground. He absolutely crushed all the work. Shoutout to Nolis as well for all of the studio imagery on the site.

Excited to finally stop the stealth mode phase (even though it wasn’t stealthy at all, just didn’t have time to dedicate to a proper brand build), and keep building and keep pushing our work out.

If you’re a creative, or from a brand, thanks for making it this far. If you feel inclined, reach out; would love to grab coffee and tell you more what we are about.
